Bolivia

Through Don Bosco we are all interconnected. In July 2010 we were overjoyed to discover that Chalice, a fellow Christian Canadian charitable organization, has been actively supporting one of our Salesian Missions in Yacapani, Bolivia. The Salesians believe that ‘children are the hope of the world’. Together we are working towards building a better world, where love is expressed in a smile and hope for a better future is something everyone can experience and realize.

Yapacani is a small Bolivian town surrounded by a very poor rural area. One of the greatest problems faced by the youth in this region is the strong presence of drugs and alcohol. With the influence of substance abuse being so prominent in the area, community improvements are extremely important.

The Canadian benefactors via the Don Bosco Mission Office and Chalice have been supporting, the Don Bosco Mini Sports Complex which serves the youth of Yapacani by offering a safe place to spend their time away from the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Games and recreational activities are an effective teaching aid, which help to instil values that help children and youth learn about living as part of a community. Thank you and may the Virgin Mary Help of Christians always accompany each and every one of you in your daily lives and bless your families.
